ITEM MASTER INTEGRITY

One item.
One trusted identity.

Mined XAI identifies duplicate items, conflicting attributes, unit-of-measure errors, and inconsistent hierarchies before they disrupt inventory, purchasing, planning, production, and reporting.

Start with a no-cost, read-only scan.
See what doesn't align, why records match, and what should be corrected. Nothing changes without your approval.

One item master, enterprise-wide Consequences

Item data problems don't stay in the item master.

They show up as trapped working capital, false stockouts, unconsolidated spend, production delays, margin leakage, and unreliable reporting. Each function sees a different consequence, but the root issue is the same: the organization can't consistently identify what it owns, buys, makes, or sells.

01
Operations and service

Inventory appears unavailable even when it is on-hand — under another record, site or pack. The result can be a missed order, an unnecessary expedite, or prolonged equipment downtime. As exceptions grow, teams work around the systems, and trust in the data erodes.

02
procurement and commercial

An item may sit behind multiple suppliers, manufacturers, or internal records. Spend becomes harder to consolidate, category performance is skewed, and sourcing, pricing, and rebate decisions are made with an incomplete view.

03
Finance and leadership

Duplicate inventory ties up working capital and inconsistent identities weaken valuations, margin analysis, and reporting. Leadership is left making capital and performance decisions on figures that require constant reconciliation.

An acquisition magnifies the problem. When item masters collide, inventory visibility, purchasing leverage, reporting, and system integration can stall until equivalent records are aligned.

BEFORE THE MATH STARTS

Clean item data isn't a side project. It's the foundation the rest runs on.

Your demand forecasts, inventory targets, and reorder points all read from the item master. If that master carries 5,500 duplicates and a third of its descriptions are missing, every number built on top inherits the error, and the best forecasting in the world still returns flawed answers because the data was wrong before the math started.

So it's the cheapest, fastest, lowest-risk place to begin. Fix the foundation, prove the value in your own data in weeks, and stand on something solid before you optimize anything on top of it.

MANUAL REVIEW
WHAT IT DOES

Discover it, resolve it, standardize it, keep it trusted.

Mined XAI identifies where your item records overlap or disagree, explains the evidence behind each recommendation, and routes it for your approval. Source systems remain unchanged until your team decides.

1
Discover

Find the duplicates and related records

Detect exact matches, near-matches, and equivalent items across internal numbers, suppliers, sites, systems, pack configurations, and units of measure.

2
REsolve

Resolve missing and conflicting attributes

Compare specifications, identifiers, cross references, and available supporting data to recommend the most reliable value — with confidence and reasoning attached.

3
STANDARDIZE

Standardize hierarchies and relationships

Establish consistent categories, product and pack relationships, and cross-system mappings across ERP, EAM, PIM, planning, inventory, and commerce.

4
Govern

Keep the item master trusted

Route recommendations to the right owners, apply only approved changes, retain source lineage, and flag new integrity issues as records enter the organization.

definition

What is item master data integrity?

Item master data integrity is the accuracy, completeness, consistency, and uniqueness of the records that define products, materials, components, and spare parts across business systems.

It matters because when data integrity is a focus of organizations, all downstream systems work from the same trusted version of the item. It ensures each item can be reliably identified and used across ERP, EAM, PIM, planning, inventory, and commerce.

STILL HAVE QUESTIONS? TALK TO US
Why does item master data matter so much?
Because forecasts, reorder points, inventory valuation, and purchasing all read from the item master. A dirty master, with duplicates and missing attributes, quietly corrupts every number built on it, so cleaning it is the highest-leverage data fix a supply chain can make.
How long does a first-pass scan take?
Most first-pass scans come back within days, depending on the shape of your data. You get the duplicates, near-duplicates, and missing attributes we found, with nothing changed in your system.
Do you merge records automatically?
We do above a confidence threshold you set. Below that, the Engine proposes each match with its reasoning attached, and a person on your team reviews and approves every merge. All changes are logged, so you keep an audit trail you can stand behind when purchasing or finance asks what changed.
What systems do you work with?
We’re system-agnostic. Whatever your system of record, SAP, Maximo, another ERP or EAM, or a legacy database, we work from a standard export, so there’s no integration project to start before you see value. We clean the data and hand it back in a form your systems can ingest.
What data do you need from us to start?
Very little. An item number and a description are enough for a first-pass scan. The more you share, including attributes, metadata, and an existing taxonomy, the deeper the insight, but the basics are enough to begin.
What does your full Item Master Integrity product provide?
A dashboard your team can use: search the catalog, see the duplicates and gaps we found, and refine your taxonomy on top of the cleaned, reconciled data itself. Something maintenance, purchasing, and stores work from day to day, not a one-time report.
